Transcription

One day in the 1880's Dickinson's pioneer doctor, Victor Stickney, had an extra-ordinary patient in his office. He was a young Medora cowboy, who had frozen his foot while tracking down some thieves who had stolen his boat along the Little Missouri.

The cowboy was all eyes and teeth as he triumphantly recounted the pursuit and capture Of the thieves when the limping patient left, the Doctor hastened to tell his wife; "Today I've met the most peculiar and at the same time the most wonderful man I've over come to know." You've guessed it—the cowboy was Theodore Roosevelt!

This is Bicentennial Story No. 4, prepared by Father Louis Pfaller for the Stark County Historical Society.
