Transcription

A people who commemorate the holy days of Jesus with deep religious ceremony and significant tradition are the Ukrainian settlers of the Belfield community. Noteworthy especially is Easter when the joy of the Miracle of Miracles is proclaimed.

It is early morn when the families gather into the church for the Resurrection services. The services begin with the priest dressed in shimmering gold vestments of the Eastern Rite. He removes the Blessed Sacrament from the tabernacle, turns to the people and in a loud voice intones, "Christ is risen from the grave". The main doors of the church open and all the people file out. With the priest carrying the Blessed Sacrament, they form a procession, circling the church three times singing the resurrection song, "Christ is risen..."
