Transcription

The Ukrainian Catholic of Belfield and Gorham begin their celebration of Christ's resurrection with a sunrise procession around the church with the Blessed Sacrament. Return¬ing the Blessed Sacrament to the altar, the priest rejoins the congregation outside to begin the Easter Matins. Standing before the closed doors, he proclaims the resurrection of Christ. At the singing of "Christ is Risen. . ." he opens the doors with a gold hand cross and followed by the people, he enters the church. The Matins continue blending with the Holy Liturgy. The services conclude with the anointing with holy oil and the blessing of the food and the Easter bread, the Paska.
