At Belfield in the early 1900's, John and Henry Sorenson operated a successful hardware business. Later when John passed away, Henry sold out and started Sorenson Implement. Frank Clark then operated a hardware store at this location until he moved to another location. In August of 1935, Skip Thompson and brother, Milton, opened the store as Thompson Hardware. Milton left in the early 1940's and after Skip died in 1953 his widow Minn Thompson continued in the store. Minn sold the store to her son Clarence Thompson in 1958. Sonny still operates the store as Thompson Hardware.
