Title

Tying Down Bronc for Breaking

Description

A man riding a bucking horse inside a corral made of logs. He is hanging onto the reins with both hands. His hat has flown off his head and is some distance behind him in mid-air. All four of the horse's hooves are off the ground and its head is down. There is another man standing in the corral to the far right, watching the man on the horse. He is wearing a white long-sleeved shirt, a dark necktie, and a cowboy hat. Beyond this man is another fenced enclosure with two horses in it. Seven people are sitting on the corral fence watching the bucking horse. Three of them appear to be boys and the rest are men. Five of them are wearing cowboy hats. Beyond the corrals are three log cabins, each with two windows and a door visible on the front of the buildings. Beyond the cabins are trees and bluffs. Exact date unknown. Not identified. According to Rolf Sletten, author of "Medora: Boom, Bust, and Resurrection" this photo was not taken at the Elkhorn Ranch. Former Theodore Roosevelt National Park Director Valerie Naylor believes this photo was taken at, or near, the Maltese Cross Ranch.
