Photo of the fire of the St. Charles Hotel, at 25 East Villard St. East, Dickinson, ND, on February 1, 1950. Much of the building has been destroyed by the fire. On the right side of the building are signs that read St. Charles Hotel, 100 Rooms, 35 Baths, tub or shower; Montana ... Utilities, Natural Gas, No Dust, No Dirt. A sign below that sign reads Elmquist Service, drink Coca-Cola, Lubrication. A Quaker State (motor oil) sign is on the sidewalk, on the east side of the hotel building. A sign attached to the front of the building reads North Dakota State Employment Service, Affiliated with U.S. Employment Service, Stark County, Veterans Service Office. To the right of the hotel, is a sign that reads Standard and a 1 story service station building that that signs that read, Standard Oil Products, Service, Elmquist, Atlas Tires, Champion (spark plugs). In front of the Service garage door is a Coca-Cola ice box. A 1 story brick garage is behind the service station. People walking are wearing coats and hats. Snow is on the ground. In the bottom right corner of the photo is a Police Car. In the lower left corner is the name Horstman, and in the lower right corner is a circled C for copyright and the date '50. Unidentified.
