Charles O. Armstrong-( 1862-1943)- Born in Cambridge, MA and came west at an age of 7 with his army family to Ft. Snelling. He lived at Fts. Ransom and Totten and he learned the Sioux language. A US Scout at age 16, trapper, buffalo hunter and mail carrier between Fts. Lincoln and Keogh. Ranched at Grassy Butte. An authority on the Custer battle, diariest and balladist. Portrait. Identified.
