Belfield's only hotel is the Gateway Hotel, it was built in 1910 by I. A. Nelson, a man who built a good many of the buildings in Belfield. For a time Nelson operated the hotel, but he later sold the property to the John Adamson's, who had homesteaded in the Rocky Ridge Township.
The hotel became the property of the First National Bank of Dickinson and was managed by several different parties until the year 1945 when Mr. and Mrs. Louie Hurt purchased the building from the bank.
Mr. and Mrs. Hurt made their home in the Hotel and operated it until 1965 when they retired. In addition to the hotel the Hurts also ran a Laundromat on the ground floor of the building. The building is presently owned by a son Alantson Hurt.
