Transcription
During the Bank Holiday of 1933, the First National Bank of Belfield was one of the few stable banks in the Nation to remain open. It had also survived the financial crash of 1929 and the hard times of the Depression. Much of the credit for this was due to Banker J.O. Milsten who had guided the bank for two decades and had arranged several mergers with other banks.
In 1944, Milsten sold the First National Bank of Belfield to the First National Bank of Dickinson, and it is now owned by area stockholders.
This is Bicentennial Story No. 148, prepared by Mrs. Louis Hurt for the Stark County Historical Society.
