Transcription

The Dickinson Press of March 31, 1883 had this smug put down: Some people, not residents of Dickinson, carry an idea that we have opposition, in Taylor, Richardton and Gladstone, in securing for Dickinson the county seat; this opinion is erroneous. We believe there is a sort of windy rivalry developed. In these towns, but not of sufficient strength or importance to be honored by the term "Opposition." Dickinson has the top hand is populated by the people who know how to hold it. There need not be the least uneasiness . . . that . . . the county seat matter will be satisfactorily settled and located, as it should be, at Dickinson.

This is Bicentennial Story No. 35, prepared by Father Louis Pfaller, for the Stark County Historical Society.
