Transcription

As I remember, Dickinson has always been the trading center for the southwestern part of North Dakota from the Little Missouri south to the Dakota state line, and it still is to a large extent. Dickinson has been fortunate to have good prairie roads in all directions--no large streams to cross or any rough country to travel through such as the badlands and so on. Dickinson had the main financial banks and the largest business places of any other surrounding towns. The business places made it a point to you and to supply your wants. Dickinson has enjoyed a steady growth all through its years. It has never had a boom or a bust. Just steadily going ahead.

This is Bicentennial Story No. 37, prepared by Harry Roberts for the Stark County Historical Society.
