This design evolved into George's "Cadillac" #40 which was completly contoured. Pictured here the back is straight as well as the angle of where the back is glued to the seat. George built two seperate planers to get a contoured seat as in this photo and yet another to achieve a contoured back resulting in a top-of-the-line premium pew body; model #40.
