Description

Photo shows a crane being used to drive pilings into a river for a bridge. A small peninsula of dirt and rock has been pushed into the river to allow the crane to drive the pilings into the exact location. On the right side of the crane are large letters B and E. Words on the side read Bucyrus-Erie Company and the numbers 50-T. The words on the back read ... Igoe & Sons Construction Co. The words on the crane, on the back end, read Bucyrus Erie. Where the pilings are being driven into the river, there is a floating island of wood planks. On the planks are 3 men. The 1st man, with his back to the camera, is wearing a plaid shirt, jeans, wrist watch, and a hard hat. The 2nd man, walking towards the piling, is wearing a shirt, jeans, gloves and a hard hat. The 3rd man, seen in profile, is wearing a shirt, jeans, gloves, and a hard hat. He is looking down into the water. The operator of the crane, seen in profile, is wearing a shirt, jeans, gloves, glasses and a hard hat. Directly in front of the crane, can be seen part of a man, who is wearing a shirt and a hard hat. Opposite this peninsula is a concrete and rock spillway. To the left of the crane is a brick building with a railway car and a truck, parked in front of it. Words on the railway car and the front of the building, cannot be read. To the left of the crane is a fuel storage facility. Part of the word Texaco can be read and large storage tanks can be seen. A chain-link fence, can be seen, in front of these tanks. To the right of this Texaco facility, is a large grain elevator. Telephone and electric poles and wires can be seen. In the bottom right corner there is no number on this negative. Exact date and location unknown. Unidentified.
