Transcription

The site of the original Fort Mandan is now in the middle of the shifting Missouri River channel, and so recently the McLean County Historical Society has selected a wildness settling three miles west of Washburn and there they have erected a life—sized replica of the historic winter quarters of the Lewis and Clark party.

If you have not seen this fine historical replica, plan to do soon and get the feel of the wilderness explorers. Remember, the rebuilt Fort Mandan is only three miles west of the town of Washburn.

This is Bicentennial Story No. 99, prepared by Father Louis Pfaller, for the Stark County Historical Society.
