Description
Two men stand in a corral looking down at a horse that is lying on its side with a rope tied around its legs. One of the men is holding the rope, and the other is standing on the rope that is on the ground. Two other men are on the opposite side of the horse, near its head. One of the men is bending over tightening the cinch of the saddle. The other men is standing and looking down. All three men wear cowboy hats. The man on the left is wearing a light colored long sleeved shirt and long pants tucked into knee-high cowboy boots. The man second to left is wearing a dark jacket, gloves, long pants and cowboy boots. The man tightening the cinch is wearing a light colored long sleeved shirt and wooly chaps. Beyond the men are corrals built out of poles. Beyond the corrals are bluffs. Exact date unknown. Not identified. According to Rolf Sletten, author of "Medora: Boom, Bust, and Resurrection" this photo was not taken at the Elkhorn Ranch. Former Theodore Roosevelt National Park Director Valerie Naylor believes this photo was taken at, or near, the Maltese Cross Ranch.
