Photo of early Gladstone. Horse drawn wagons and a buggy can be seen the city's main street. The street is unpaved. Signs on stores read, left to right, Geo(rge) W. Lee, Lumber & Machinery, Dolwig & Duckhorn Co. General Store, Gladstone Mercantile, Bank, and R. J. Tu(rne)r Land (Co.) and Post Off(ice). Behind the main street buildings 2 windmills can be seen, plus construction of a Church's bell tower, and a grain elevator. Exact date unknown.
The St. Thomas Church was rebuilt in 1912 after it had been destroyed by lighting in 1909, with the bell tower under construction in this photo it was probably taken in 1912.
